Parmeet Sethi Opens Up About Marital Struggles With Archana Puran Singh: "We Were Fighting A Lot"

Parmeet Sethi has recently been quite candid about a particular phase that he and his wife, Archana Puran Singh, went through in their marriage, where they were identified as “fighting a lot” during what they call somewhat of a transitional phase in their marriage. While Sethi and Singh have always come across openly in their light-hearted YouTube vlogs together and their strong family unit on social media, Sethi and Singh also have their own story of struggle, growth, and resiliency.

During a heartfelt discussion on their son Aaryamann Sethi’s YouTube channel, Parmeet shared that Archana encouraged him to take the Art of Living course in Bengaluru during this rough time in their marriage, and while agreeing to take the course was not an initial thought of Parmeet’s, he considered it, had a moment and decided this course might help him. It appears, once that door opened, he had some soul depth and soul searching that took place through this course.

He recalls the relief he felt after being able to release what he had carried inside, the grieving process he had been mentally and emotionally dealing with regarding his only sister’s passing, saying, “After the course, mere andar jo jo cheezein thi, jo jo kachra pada hua in my soul, in my being, vo sab bahar aa gaya,” adding he burst crying openly several times. He also mentioned how great it was to physically feel better, with so much emotional healing occurring, and it helped him and Archana move forward by getting through their rough times again.

Parmeet and Archana’s own love story also has hurdles to overcome and has defied culture to prove that love can exist outside of norms. Archana, divorced and seven years older than Parmeet, was apprehensive about marrying again. Fate took its course after Parmeet met Archana at a party and they quickly fell in love. The two lived together romantically for four years until they decided to elope and marry privately in 1992 while Archana was gaining a foothold in the world of acting.

With this, they chose to keep the marriage a secret just so Archana could keep gaining success as an actor without any repercussions that her husband’s age and experience might threaten her career with. At first, Parmeet’s family was against Archana based on her age and profession, but they gradually accepted her, embraced her, and loved her.

Thirteen years later, the couple is still going strong, one of the strongest couples in Indian television, raising two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushaan, while freely sharing snapshots of their family life with their audience on social media. Their story has an underlying commitment of love and support regardless of the difficulties in married life.

In the same interview, Parmeet shed light on his difficult childhood. He talked about growing up as a Sikh and how the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi impacted him, which caused him to lose his cousin and uncle. That tragedy compelled him to cut his hair and stop wearing his turban at a young age, a decision that was difficult for his father. Parmeet discussed how he also struggled financially at an early age when he sold shirts while in college to support his family.

Parmeet Sethi’s realizations shed light on how individual struggles, whether they relate to family, marriage, or identity, can be overcome through self-awareness, emotional healing, and support from family and friends. Today, Parmeet and Archana’s relationship shows resilience, growth, and love in the face of adversity.
